Lynn A. Shuster

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin Lynn A. Shuster, of Bellingham, Washington passed away peacefully at home on January 4, 2014. He will always remain in our hearts the beloved husband of Ruth (Behrstock) Shuster, loving father of Todd (Kendra Bradford) of Bellingham and Jay (Liz) of Portland, OR, the adored grandfather of Amelia, Lev, Gail and Ezra and dear brother of Scott Shuster of New York City, NY. Lynn was born on February 23, 1942 to Jennie and Bernard Shuster in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where he earned B.A. and J.D. degrees, while working to put himself through school. Most importantly he met his loving wife there, while working in the kitchen of her dormitory. Lynn and Ruth married in 1967 and moved to the Chicago area in 1969, settling in Glencoe, IL, where they raised their sons. He found great fulfillment and joy being involved in local politics, schools, zoning board, and Boy Scouts. Recognizing Lynn’s fine qualities, his father-in-law Arnold, brought him into the family business where he was a key manager until the business was sold. He then bought an existing business, Auto-Matic Products, a vehicle security business, which he ran until 2000. An active recreational fisherman for much of his life, he also co-owned the Chicago Muskie Show which brought him joy allowing him to apply both his business skills and love of sport into a “retirement” job. Lynn’s greatest joys in life were Ruth, his wife of “46 wonderful years”, and his precious family, including in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was never shy about saying this to his loved ones or anyone else who would listen. Frequent travel with all the kids and grandkids, plus very special trips with individual grandchildren were highlights of the past 12 years. Lynn & Ruth loved travel, near and far, including an October trip to Spain with dear friends. Farewell Tribute Information A memorial service will be held at Moles Lakeway on Sunday January 12, 2014 at 1:30 PM.
