Joi DeeAnn Jefferson Joi DeeAnn Jefferson, Yo Yo, was born on February 7, 1967 to Lillian Kinley (Solomon) and Douglas Jefferson, Sr. She shared her birthday with her beloved Mom, Lillian. She was born and raised on the Lummi Reservation, spent many of her teenage years with family and friends of the Nooksack Reservation. She was a beloved Wife, Daughter, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Relative and Friend to many. Joi was a humble soul. She was a soft spoken and easy going woman. She is remembered as having beautiful long and lush hair, a bright smile and jovial laughter. Her life and hands were blessed with the love of God. She loved and praised Our Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ. Her heart is as big as it is beautiful, and she loved all of Creation. Her hands were always blessed and busy with prayer, beading, painting and drawing. She spent time studying the bible. She enjoyed family gatherings, camping across Portage, combing the beaches, hunting for agates and gathering eagle feathers. And she always had a story to share about one of her many close encounters with Sasquatch. She absolutely loved loved loved Sylvia Brown, and often planned that she would make it to Emerald Queen Casino to catch her one of these days. Joi always loved a good time, she enjoyed dancing, singing along together with a car load of her family and friends to her favorite songs maybe two or three times in a row. She enjoyed anything to share some laughter, be happy, share happiness and be at peace. She celebrated life and she loved God. She had many pastimes, but none more than spending time with the loves of her life: her husband, her children and grandchildren. Her family always came first. She was so very close to all of her brothers and sisters including all of her nieces and nephews. She also shared a special bond with her nieces Georgina and Charlotte. Such a special bond that she was often asked if her nieces were her sisters because they are so close. Her love for her family is immense. Her love for her family, friends and life was vast and surmounted and depth or height. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her gentle embrace, and her joyful laughter. Joi is survived by her husband, Mark Lawrence Sr., siblings Jeffrey (and Dora) Jefferson, Michael and James Plaster, Royrey Jefferson, Valgina and Randolph Kinley, Isabelle Jefferson, Alice Jefferson (Brian Sebastian), Paula Jefferson (Jason Cooper), Kelli Jefferson (Ralph Tom), Miranda Jefferson (Joseph Humphries), Carmen and John Burke. Her children Currie Jefferson (Joseph Gallegos), Sunni Jefferies (Jeffrey Point Jr.), Mark Lawrence Jr., and Douglas Lawrence. Step Children Joseph Lawrence Sr. and Grandchildren Kylten, Kolten, and Danion Lechuga, Tristen Gallegos, Diego Jefferson, Issac Delgado, Ross Point, Chevy and Daniel Jefferson, and Joseph Lawrence Jr. Joi is preceded in death by her parents Lillian Kinley (Solomon), Douglas Jefferson Sr., Grandparents Dora and Felix Solomon (Williams), Isabelle and David Jefferson (Barr), Brother Douglas Jefferson Jr., Sister Lanore Jefferson, Step Son Jeremy Jefferson, and Nephew Daniel Jefferson.
