Jeffrey Alan "Jeff" Cory

Jeffrey (Jeff) Alan Cory, husband of Debi Daughters Cory of 39 years, passed away February 16, 2023. Born October 2, 1941 to Hugh Melvin Cory and Lena Olinda (Hofferber) Cory, both deceased. Jeff was born in Bellingham, WA and passed at his home with Debi by his side. The Cory family enjoyed their cabin at Lake Samish, swimming, water skiing, parties and bonfires. He and cousin Roger swam across the entire lake. His family also remembers him having the quickest car around, a 1940 Ford that he had numerous races on Slater Rd. He is remembered for his smile, jokes and the delight in his eyes with his daughter Jayme and granddaughter, Juniper. He loved his “Classic” cars and driving the waterfront along with going to Reno for the “Hot August Nights”, his true passion of antique cars, including his 1949 Red Ford Coupe. He went to car shows leaving with many trophies. Jeff also enjoyed numerous trips to Las Vegas where he was going to get rich. Jeff had a love of daily barbecuing for family and friends, full turkeys on the holidays. Watching hockey, football, and was an avid Shuffleboard player with many trophies. He loved the annual chili cook offs at Arco summer picnics, his team were often award winners. While attending Bellingham high school he joined the National Guard at 16, then upon graduation joined the Army and was stationed at Fort Sill in Oklahoma for two years. Growing up Jeff sold cars, then moved to Alaska to work for his Uncle Birney at his cannery. Upon returning home he joined the construction team building the Arco Refinery at Cherry Point. In 1971 after the “construction” he was hired as an I & E technician. He retired from Arco in 2001. Jeff is survived by his wife Debi, daughter Jayme (Josh) and granddaughter Juniper. Brother, Greg (Barb) Cory. Sisters, Kacy (Bill) Inama, Jaye Cory & Susie Cory. Brother-in-law Terry (Joeen) Daughters and Sister-in-law Lori (John) Bartleson. Many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Lena Cory, brother Mike Cory, in-laws Larry & Ruth Daughters and sister-in law Sandra Daughters. Jeff was described as witty and funny, cheerful and easygoing, a jokester. He was knowledgeable, reliable, and a hard worker. Thoughtful, loyal, and romantic. Quiet and sensitive, but courageous and strong-willed. Loving, and loved. A “Celebration of Life” will be held for Jeff at the Mount Baker Rotary Club Building, 1751 Front Street, Lynden, WA on Monday, March 20th at 1:00 p.m.
