James T. Lomasney

Bellingham, WA – James T. Lomasney, Jr., age 64, of Bellingham, WA died peacefully on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 and was surrounded by his wife, Vinessa Andreano, and dear friends from his meditation community. James was born December 24, 1951 in Ticonderoga, NY. He was the son of predeceased James T. Lomasney and Elizabeth Trombley Lomasney, and is survived by his step-mother Kathleen Sherman Lomasney. James attended schools in Rhinebeck and Hyde Park. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1974-1982. He retired in 2003 from the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Control Specialist in Albany, NY and Altoona, PA after 21 years of service. James shared his great love of music with everyone he knew. He never missed a chance to spend time jamming with friends and family playing piano, keyboards, harmonica and guitar. He enjoyed writing music, supporting the local music scene, and was extremely proud of his piano students. James was a talented artist, painting various landscapes and nature scenes. He practiced spiritual meditation daily and found this as a significant source of well-being. James was deeply appreciative to the many people who have helped him to thrive in this way. James was married on September 27, 2015 and is survived by his wife, Vinessa Andreano of Bellingham, WA, and his daughter Jennifer Lomasney (fiancé Noah), grandchildren Emmi and Bruno Jimmy (his namesake), of Zemmer, Germany. He is survived by two brothers David W. Lomasney (Sharon) of Hilton Head, SC and Kevin R. Lomasney and partner Sherry Dobson of Tybee Island, Ga., sisters Karen Lomasney Tobias (Bryan), of Staatsburg, NY and Mary Lomasney Utter (George) of Staatsburg, NY. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnephews, and grandnieces. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers John W. and Bruce M. Lomasney. As James wished, he was given a green burial on September 2nd 2016. His burial service included a military flag ceremony. His friend, Peter Ali, who also played at James’ and Vinessa’s wedding ceremony, graced the burial with his beautiful Native American flute music. Another friend from James’ community sang a moving Lakota song meant to help James journey on. It was a day blessed by many gestures of love.
