Gerald Roberts Lauerman

Bellingham His name is Gerald Roberts Lauerman. He was born in Everett, WA on May 17, 1929. He was the third child of Clarence L. and Mattie M. (Roberts) Lauerman. He has one brother Kenneth J. (Jean) Warm Beach and one sister Clarene L. (deceased). On Oct 23, 1996 Jerry married Billie W. (Smith, Lavender) Ribbe. Jerry has a step-son Phillip Nixon (Teresa) Graham, WA. Billies children are Teresa M. Lavender (Woodinville, WA) and Michael C. Lavender (Lisa) College Station, TX. There are 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Jerry left this world on December 26, 2013, Jerry grew up in Snohomish, WA, graduating from Snohomish High School in 1949. He attended the U of W prior to enlisting in the Army in July 1951 and served in Korea where he received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Army Commendation Ribbon w/metal pendant. When he separated from the Army in June 1954 he continued his education in Washington and Oregon where he received his Doctor of Optometry degree at Forrest Grove, OR. He had four offices mainly in the Seattle area until his retirement in 1993. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman from the time he was a young child. He and his brother grew up fishing and hunting with their dad whenever possible. The two of them delighted in playing on and in the Snohomish River. He had many a tale to tell of his adventures in the Cascade Mountains hunting, fishing, hiking, camping and helping a good friend (Whistlin Pine Ranch) pack and guide hunters into the Wilderness Areas of Washington. One of his favorite places to go and spend time over the last few years has been Stehekin, WA where he would hike the many trails and chop wood for the stove. He loved card games, especially Bridge, cribbage, jigsaw puzzles and dancing wherever he could find a good dance floor and band. He was a wonderful dancer and his favorite place to go was Harrison Hot Springs. Jerry was quiet, gentle, strong-willed with a stubborn side, but a very loving man. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Farewell Tribute Information There will not be a funeral. Just take a minute or two for a little prayer to help him on his journey.
