Donald F. Wiggins

Donald F. Wiggins Dad was born in Anacortes, Washington September 8, 1930 where he and his brothers were raised. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and served during the Korean War as an aircraft mechanic. After honorable discharge from the military, he returned to the Pacific Northwest. He married Mary Jeanette Paull and here they raised their family. He was an auto mechanic-extraordinaire by trade and owned and operated D & D Automotive until his retirement. His skills are legend. When he married Dorothy Ferguson, his family grew to include her kids and their kids. He was “Dad” and “Grandpa” to many. His hobbies included fishing, boating, RV-ing, and road trips with Dorothy that lasted weeks at a time. He had many amazing talents and abilities. An industrious man, he was always busy; tinkering, repairing, improving, inventing, plant-tending (known for his indoor citrus trees that always bore edible fruit) He was gentle, kind, funny, sweet, patient, true, honest, hardworking, loyal and very cute! He was a cancer survivor. After Dorothy passed away in 2008, Dad found companionship with a recently widowed friend, Jolene Lagerwey., They discovered, after a time, you are never too old to find love, and the two became engaged in 2010. Dads family grew again to include Jolene’s kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids (each time his family grew, he found new victims for his jokes). He loved life and the simple joys it had to offer, especially a good banana cream pie. This sweet, good man will be missed by so many. Donald F. Wiggins is survived by: Valerie “Kim” (Jen) Wiggins, Melinda “Mindy” (John) Jackson, Forrest (Susan) Paull, Jody (Martin) Johnson, Mary “Snook” (Fred) Valente, Sandy Ferguson, Blake (Teri) Ferguson, Bruce (Sharon) Ferguson, 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and fiancee, Jolene. Dad was preceded in death by his parents, William “Bill” and Edith Wiggins, brothers Bill Wiggins Jr., and Jack Wiggins, and second wife, Dorothy Wiggins. Farewell Tribute Information Memorial services for Donald F. Wiggins will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bellingham, On Friday, September 6th , from 11:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow at 1:00 P.M. at Greenacres Memorial Park, 5700 Northwest Drive, Ferndale, WA 98248
