Carol Jean Iverson

Carol Iverson passed away peacefully in the early morning of June 1, 2026, with her family by her side. Carol was born on March 23, 1955, in Enumclaw, Washington, to Bob and Betty Parkerson. She always enjoyed sharing that she was born the same year as Disneyland. Her family later settled in Ferndale, where Betty married Bill Corning and Carol graduated from Ferndale High School in 1973. Carol later moved to Bellingham, where she married Peter Timmer and welcomed their son, Billy. In the early 1980s, Carol met Gordon "Gordy" Iverson at the Royal Inn Restaurant. They married in 1987 and welcomed their daughter, Amber. Together with Billy, the family moved to Lake Samish. In 1991, Carol was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Faced with a daunting and unpredictable illness, she refused to let it define her life. At Lake Samish, Carol created a home that became a gathering place for family and friends. She and Gordy hosted BBQs and lake days that Carol could pull together at a moment's notice, preparing favorite meals and creating memories that would last a lifetime. Whether family, friends, neighbors, or unexpected guests, everyone was welcome. She was active in her community and never shied away from causes that needed her time and support. She served as a Girl Scout co-troop leader, was a member of Whatcom Women-in-Timber, and was active with her church, including being the particularly proud three-time winner of the Trinity Lutheran Church Chili Cook-Off. She also gave generously to countless school activities, community events, and the Deming Logging Show. More than anything, Carol was proud of her family. She was a devoted mother who rarely missed a sporting event, school activity, or academic milestone. She was a dedicated partner to Gordy, working together to form C&G Timber and supporting him while his work took him and the family across the globe. Refusing to let MS limit her adventures, Carol embraced opportunities to travel. Among her favorite adventures were trips to Punta Arenas, Chile, where she formed lasting friendships that remained dear to her throughout her life; chaperoning a cultural exchange trip to China; and traveling with the North Cascades Dawg Pound to cheer on UW Husky Football. As Carol's MS progressed, mobility, strength, and communication became increasingly difficult. Friends and family continued to include, support, and surround her with love. Her warmth, generosity, humor, resilience, and unwavering love for family and friends left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Carol is survived by her self-proclaimed "Good Lookin' Family": her husband, Gordy; her son, Billy; her daughter, Amber; her son-in-law, Sam Wojcik; her sisters, Toni and Pam; her brother, Robert; and numerous extended family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Betty and Bob; and her stepfather, Bill Corning. Carol's family invites all who knew and loved her to a memorial service on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Moles Farewell Tributes at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale, Washington. A viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, all are welcome to gather at the home of Tom and Brenda Iverson in Custer for a celebration of Carol's life. Flowers may be sent to Moles Farewell Tributes. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Deming Logging Show for Busted Up Loggers.
