Obituary
Winton Nyle Engels passed into the presence of the Lord August 17, 2012. Winton was born November 21, 1934 to Beryl Beyer and Arnold Engels in Antigo, WI. Winton met and married his next door neighbor Shirley Johnson in Bellingham in 1953. He graduated from Bellingham High School in 1953. Winton was a hard working and faithful provider in raising his 6 children. Winton started working as a milkman at age 10, and then at age 21 for Puget Power in Bellingham for another 38 years.
After retirement Winton volunteered and enjoyed traveling with his wife, being part of his church small group, and playing cards with family and friends. Winton enjoyed sharing hospitality and lived a life of generosity toward others.
Winton was preceded by his wife Shirley on Jan 23, 2012 and is survived by his siblings, Arnella Grimshaw, Nona Jean Patrick, and Erdyne Patrick. Wintons children are Deborah Andrews and partner Nigel Cundy, Teresa Engels, John Engels and wife Nancy, Jeff Engels and wife Debbie, Kristine Engels, Michelle Taylor and husband Robin. The grandchildren are Jennifer Douglas and husband Brad, Kevin Andrews, David Andrews, Nathaniel, Nichelle, Jared, Janae, Levi, Sarah, Julia, Paul Engels, Anya and Rachel Taylor. Great grandchild Gabriel Douglas.
Wintons graveside service is Sat Sept. 8th at Bayview Cemetery Bellingham, Wa. at 11:00 AM. The memorial service is to be held at Hillcrest Chapel on Sat., Sept 8th at 2:00 PM, 1400 Larrabee Ave, Bellingham, WA. 98225. Winton voluteered at the Dept of Corrections where I first met him and was he ever the nicest man. He took on any job I gave him. Winton was a loving and caring man. He treated our clients with respect and kindness even though he struggled with how clients had gotten into trouble. He told me “family was most important” and “what were they thinking”. I was so sad to see that Winton had passed on but I know he had a strong faith and this did comfort him. My condolences to his family are heart felt. May he rest in peace. He was a good friend.

My condolences to the Engel family. I 1st knew Winton from working with him on building projects at Puget Power. As a contractor it was always nice to know that he would be resonable and fair in his decissions about each project. Our friendship continued into retirement and it was always nice to see him because of his great outlook on life. It is easy to understand that he is with The Father at the end of this earthly life and as he begins to live in the hopr he has left behind. You children should know, as I am sure you do, your Dad was a very good man who knew The Lord and showed it in his daily life. May God give you the neccessary stregth as you celebrate your parents lives in this year of 2012.

I met Winton in 1960. I was 10 years old and went to work for the Lockhart fanmly in the milk business. His Dad, Arnold did the bottling for Medcalf Dairy. He and I alternated mornings helping on the routes. Sometimes,vacations, etc.before i was old enough to drive, I would be his helper. Even as a kid I admired his work ethic, delivering milk in the mornings, working for Puget Power in the daytime and at one point working nights at Als Savewell Grocery store. He was always fun and very straightforward. He loved his wife and daughters very much.I remember growing up and starting to use cologne, and meeting girls on the routes, he would tease me unmercifully. He was a real gentleman!
