Obituary

He was born Nov. 26, 1930, in St. Paul, Minn. Beloved husband of the late Sally (Reeves), he is survived by his brothers, John (Janice) of Lake Bluff and Henry (Karen) of Winthrop; and a sister, Mary Karges of Houston. He was the loving son of Henry and Myrtle. He has two nephews, John (Letitia) Schnobrich and Richard (Lisa) Schnobrich; three nieces, Karen (Bob) Rynkiewicz, Kathy (Paul) Blahanka and Carolyn (David) Grasty; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

After graduation from the University of Illinois, he went to OCS training in Rhode Island. He then served in the U.S. Navy as a LTJG in the Special Weapons Division in Washington, doing engineering research at various test sites.

Bill and Sally lived in the Champaign-Urbana area from 1960 to 2003 while he was a professor of engineering at the UI. He loved teaching and working with his many doctoral candidates and remained in touch with many until his death.

He was an avid radio-controlled model airplane enthusiast throughout his life and had many long-lasting friends in the hobby.

Services will be held Sept. 10 at 10am at Greenacres Memorial Park, 5700 Northwest Drive, Ferndale, Wash.
