Obituary
Vivian Lorraine McPhillips, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at her home in Everson, Washington. She died peacefully, looking out the window at her beautiful roses and bird bath that she loved. Vivian’s life was blessed with a loving family and treasured friends. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 1, 1932 to Stanley and Elsie (Mackenzie) Fenton. She married Al McPhillips on December 26, 1953 in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. The two raised their five children in Michigan, Florida, and California. They were married 56 years until his passing in 2010.
Vivian was a caring nurse at Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City. Along with Al and the family, she was a devoted member of Peninsula Covenant Church, also in Redwood City, California. In the mid-1990s Vivian and Al “retired” and moved to Bellingham, Washington where Vivian was an active member of Christ The King and New Song Church. Vivian relocated to Everson in 2011, just outside Bellingham, and married a fellow member of the church, Kenneth Madison, in 2014. They were blessed to continue to serve others throughout their marriage.
Vivian contributed much of her time to volunteer work and was known for her caring nature, wide smile, open heart, enduring faith, and very generous spirit. She especially enjoyed Jimmy Swaggart, gospel hymns, walks with friends, dancing, Christmastime, strong coffee, candy, shopping, boating in the San Juans, and especially the companionship of her beloved dog, Daisy. Vivian was a loving wife, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She has received the ultimate blessing and has been reunited with loved ones in Paradise.
Vivian is survived by her husband, Ken; daughters Debbie Witherby, Susan (Donnie) Bowers, Judy (Jim) Mulvey, Wendy McPhillips, (Marty); son Chris (Candice) McPhillips; step-children Jim (Patti) Madison, Julie (Elmer) Dooyema; 11 grandchildren and 9.33 great-grandchildren.
