Obituary
Vivian Dow passed away Monday, July 15, 2013 peacefully in her sleep. She was born September 26th, 1922 in Ferndale Washington to Sydney and Gertje Bergsma. She attended school in Ferndale and graduated from Bellingham Business College. She married Carleton “Dutch” Dow in 1943, and worked for Darigold while he served in Europe during World War II. Their first child, Barbara, was born in 1949, their second child, Wanda, was born in 1951. Vivian was active in church, and was an avid gardener, and camper, She enjoyed cooking, canning, and loved her family. She received loving care during the last four years of her life from the staff at Silverado Senior Living in Bellingham. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Annie and Elsie, her husband, and both daughters. She is survived by her sisters Barbara Jansen and Cora Quiggle, son in-law Joe Boyd, grandchildren Thomas and Rebecca Boyd, great grandchild Gordon Boyd, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, July 22 at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale. A brief graveside farewell will be held Tuesday, July 23 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association of Washington.

Visitation will be Monday, July 22 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at Moles Farewell Tributes – Greenacres 5700 Northwest Dr, Ferndale. A brief graveside farewell will be held Tuesday, July 23 at 2:30 p.m. at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale. So sorry to read of Vivian’s passing. Dutch and Vivian were friends of my parents and I know they always enjoyed their company over the years.. May God comfort the family at this time.
