Obituary

Virginia (Gingie) Worthen-Hutchins passed away quietly this Easter morning in the caring hands of Bellinghams Hospice House.

Born in Puyallup, WA, Gingie spent most of her life in Bellingham, first with her husband Jerry Worthen, and children Christie and Carey. About ten years after Jerrys death, she met and married Edwin Hutchins. Gingie was the consummate mother. Every time I find myself inclined to criticize someone for their shortcomings, I try to remember that they were likely not gifted with a mother like mine, that I equated to June Cleaver of the Leave it to Beaver show. She was absolutely committed to her family. She was always kind, gentle, loving and funny. Mom was sometimes strict, but always applied it with love. Mom was mostly a stay at home homemaker, but also much more than that. She and Dad met in college, and moved to Bellingham shortly after.

Mom loved her friends and family dearly. She was blessed with a group of great friends from her time living in Sudden Valley, and then the newfound friends she discovered at Ankar Retirement Park in Bellingham, where she raised her lovely flowers and played many a card game.

A three year battle with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma proved to be too much for Gingie.

Mom was preceded in death by her two husbands, Jerry and Ed. She is survived by her son Carey (Dorothy) Worthen, and daughter Christie (Klaus) Schoebel, grandchildren: Bill (Stephanie) Hewett Jr., Traci (Matt) Heaps, and Jade Polinkus-Worthen. Gingie was also blessed with five great grandchildren: Ashleigh, Jessie, Bailey, Allison and Zane; as well as three loving step-children: Sandy, Frank, and Ed Jr.

May I offer these Bible Verses in an effort to give you comfort and hope at this difficult time.
