Obituary

Virginia Dorsey Jorissen died peacefully at the hospital at the age of 92. She was born to Harold and Idabel Dorsey in Seattle, WA on April 6, 1925. Virginia attended elementary school at the Campus School, which was originally Teacher’s College of Western Washington. As a girl, she often enjoyed going out to Chuckanut Bay before her and Henry (Dutch) Jorissen made it their home.

After her graduation from Bellingham High School in 1943, Virginia attended college at University of Washington where she was a Tri Delta. She later moved to Washington State University for her last year of college once she married the love of her life, Dutch, on July 3rd, 1948, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics.

Virginia was a strong, determined woman, devoted wife, and truly dedicated mother and grandmother. She committed her life to God, family, and friends. She especially loved sharing the work of Jesus with the congregation of First Baptist Church which she had been a member of since 1928, attending the church for 89 years.

She has now been peacefully reunited with her husband Hank (Dutch), an event she had been waiting for since 1991. She leaves behind her brother Bill Dorsey, daughters Diane (and Fritz) Johnston and Joni (and Mark) Hinton, her son Hank Jorissen, her four grandchildren, and her five great-grandchildren.

The Celebration of Life will take place on November 17th, 2017 at 1:00 PM, located at First Baptist Church (110 Flora St. Bellingham, 98225) with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to First Baptist Church and mail to PO Box 5916 Bellingham, WA 98225.
