Obituary
Vernon Rae Arbuckle, age 74, passed away on August 22, 2020 in Blaine, WA. Vernon was born in Bellingham on October 9, 1945 to Clyde and Alma (Sooter) Arbuckle. After high school, Vernon served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a truck driver for Puget Sound Freight, and also worked as a landscaper and as a bouncer at Oyster Run and Anacortes Days. He was also a member of the American Legion Riders Peace Arch Post 86, The Outreach Program, and many other community services.
Vernon enjoyed the simple pleasures life had to offer. He loved driving along the water at night, taking in the calm cool breeze. He loved reading, and car races, and going everywhere with his loyal dog Susie. He had a calm, slow way of talking, and could be quite the ladies’ man with those blue eyes of his. He could often be found dancing the night away at the VFW.
His sister Sharon Yeisley has such fond memories of the times he drove to Fife to visit with her. She loved spending time with him, not needing to do much but enjoy their conversations together and put up with his good-natured teasing. Even though he lived so far away, they always remained close friends. They stuck together through everything and always looked out for one another. He will be so deeply missed.
Vernon is predeceased by his parents and his brother Ronald Arbuckle. He is survived by his sister Sharon Yeisley of Ketchikan, AK, his cousin Sue Stanford of Custer, WA, as well at six nieces and five nephews.
Vernon will be laid to rest at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale, WA.

I had the pleasure of meeting Vern in February of this year and we become instead friends..He was such a kind man..I volunteer at the Legions post 86. I had moved to Birch Bay in the fall of 2019 and I wanted to do something to find new friends and make others happy.. Vern was such a wonderful man,he made me feel strong and welcomed..I had him over for lunch serval times and he had great stories to tell and my mother enjoyed his company as well.He was a dad in a sense to me as we lost our dad and my brother all in 2017..He so loved coming to the house the view of the bay and my English bulldog Diesel…He will greatly missed..
