Obituary

Tretha “Trace” Goodnight went to be with Jesus on November 25, 2019 in Bellingham, Washington. She was born January 19, 1934 in Texas to Archie and Ida Exum. She attended Roswell High School (in New Mexico) and Texas Tech, and worked as an administrator and social worker.

Trace loved watching football games, thrift shopping, doing puzzles, gardening, and painting. She delighted in being a grandma, and she went on numerous mission trips. Trace’s family will remember her generous laughter, her love for Jesus and her family, and her wonderful stories, which they always looked forward to.

She lived well, loved well, and finished well.

Trace is survived by her daughter Pam Blumberg, her sons Mike Goodnight and Bryan Goodnight, seven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren, along with four nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Cornwall Church (4518 Northwest Drive, Bellingham, WA 98226) on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.

  1. To the family, we are sorry for the pain you feel for the loss. We do rejoice that we know Trace is smiling in heaven now with Jesus and dancing before the Lord with all her might. We are honored to have known her.

  2. Well, I am so glad I got to be with T.Don this past June along with my two boys! They enjoyed visiting with her. She was such a sweet and caring person that was always happy, telling a story and laughing; and that’s how she was 50 years ago when we lived next to the Goodnights’ in Colorado and British Columbia. I miss those old days!

My thoughts and prayers are with y’all, Pam, Bryan and Mike!
I love all of you and would love to be there to see you and say goodbye to my special Aunt T.Don!

With all our love and condolences,
    Danny and Jennifer

  3. With Aunt Trace there was never a dull moment! She was so full of life, love and laughter and this is not just a cliche – she really did live this way. She made you feel like what you had to say was important to her and so made her such a good listener. She would always find the lightness and humor in things and loved to tell a good joke. We could sit for hours and talk about old times when her she and her family lived near us for so many years. So many humorous moments and laughter. I love her dearly and will really miss that infectious laughter and warmth that she had. Love you Trace!

I had no idea. Something today caused me to check in with Trace. So many years of the most loving, close relationship with all of us. A substitute Grammie for our Ryan, a celebrated bday together, just easy times being Capricorns! We will love you always and forever.
