Obituary

Todd Anthony Roat passed away on Jan. 5, 2020, in Ferndale, WA, just 10 days shy of his 45th birthday.

Todd was born on Jan. 15, 1975 in Bellevue, WA, and lived in Fall City, WA from 1975 to 1986. Todd was a great little guy, always busy with school, sports, camping, and anything outdoors. He moved to Ferndale, WA with his family in 1986, eventually graduating high school and setting off to live the life he chose to live.

His eldest and much-loved daughter, Ocea Echo, was born on Sept. 1, 1994, followed by his youngest much loved-daughter, Maya Ann, born on Feb. 8, 2001. During these years he was married to Kari Ann Davis, the mother of his daughters, they moved briefly to Utah, then back to Whatcom County, where Todd remained after their divorce.

Todd was a hard worker and held numerous jobs over the years. In his free time, he enjoyed skateboarding, frisbee golf, bicycling, and exploring the many parks in Whatcom County. He absolutely loved the great outdoors.

For the last four years, he shared his life with his true love, Jennifer Hawk Roat and became a step-dad to Jennifer’s daughter Amrie Bungerhawk. Also became a friend to Jennifer’s 2 adult sons Austin and Andrew Bungerhawk.

Todd was hired by Intellco in 2018 as a Potliner and was quite proud of his new position in life.  On Feb. 9, 2019, Todd married the love of his life, Jennifer. They had moved to the water to a home with a beautiful view, loving each moment of life with each other; thus in this happy place, they were married.

It was in this home on the water that Todd passed away on Jan. 5, 2020 from a heart attack due to congestive heart failure. He was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his wife Jennifer Hawk Roat; daughters Ocea Echo Davis and Maya Ann Roat; step-daughter Amrie Bungerhawk; Jennifer’s adult sons Austin and Andrew Bungerhawk; step-grandaughter Astoria Bungerhawk; in-laws Leslie and David Hawk; brother Patrick Alan Roat; and parents Dobber and Tony Roat, along with many cousins, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and many friends.  He lived the life he chose to the fullest.

Todd truly found happiness this last four years with Jennifer Hawk Roat.  He will be forever missed, loved, and in our hearts.

My heart goes out to you and your family at the loss of Todd. I am so grateful for the short time he was part of our family for the great love and joy he brought to our Jennifer. I pray the Peace of God through Jesus Christ settle in, warm and heal yours and Jennifer’s broken heart.

  4. Todd was a good friend to me. He was a person you could have a one on one conversation with, you could share your feelings and say what was right or wrong in the world. He made me laugh and made sure that I knew we were good friends. I am terribly sorry he has passed at a young age and I miss him already. My heart is broken for his family and loved ones. He touched the world with a great smile and a good heart and a good laugh. You are with my head and heart Todd.
