Obituary

Thomas McCalla Yorkston passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at the age of 81 after a short battle with cancer. Tom was born in Bellingham, WA, on October 20, 1934 to Gertrude and Adrian Yorkston. He was preceded in death by the love of his life of 56 years, his wife Patricia. Survived by 4 children Debbie Rothenbuhler (Dick), Tom Yorkston Jr., Nancy Yorkston, Kathy Yorkston, 4 grandchildren Angila Wilson, (Eric), Edward Witherell (Racheal), Patrick Yorkston, Brianna Steiner and 2 great grandchildren Alexis Wilson and Tanner Wilson. Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Tom graduated from Bellingham High School. He worked at Bellingham Cold Storage, Hardwood Fuel and Wonic Lumber Co. then went to Yorkston Oil Co. as a driver for the power vac and cleaning furnaces. He eventually moved into the delivery of furnace oil and transport of fuel which lead to becoming partner of Yorkston Oil with his brother Barney Sr. He retired from Yorkston Oil in 1996.
Tom enjoyed his river property, he loved to travel with his wife in their motorhome and they would go to Hawaii in the winter. Tom loved to make people smile and laugh (Social Butterfly), he loved music and dancing and keeping the koi fish in their pond alive for mom.
A graveside service will be held at Bayview Cemetery on Friday, March 25 at 12pm followed by a reception at Moles Farewell Tributes Bellingham, 2465 Lakeway Drive.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Whatcom Hospice House or the American Cancer Society.
