Obituary

Tekla Ann Walton of Bellingham, WA, slipped into the arms of her Savior on Saturday, February 2, 2013, surrounded by her family. Tekla was born in Phoenix, AZ on August 13, 1938 to Michael and Elsa (Norris) Selementi.

Tekla was an active member of the Salvation Army, where she shared her gift of musical ministry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jerry and Floyd Williams, and sister Mickey Neubauer.

She is survived by her husband Bob Walton; daughters, Suzanne (Sheldon) Peterson, Deanna (Tim) Griffith, and Kelli (Steve) Sperry; grandchildren, Bryan Griffith and Sarah Griffith, and Michael, David, Rebecca, and Daniel Sperry.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Laurendeau Cancer Care Fund, P. O. Box 5641, Bellingham, WA 98227 or Whatcom Hospice, 2806 Douglas Ave., Bellingham, WA 98225.

A memorial service will be held Friday, February 8, at 2 PM, at the Salvation Army, 2912 Northwest Avenue in Bellingham.

The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Don Berry, the hospital ICU staff, and Whatcom County Hospice.

  1. Tekla was a big part of my life. Your family and mine have always known each other it seems. I always remember her big smile, warm hugs and great alto voice. May God keep all of you in his arms and comfort you through this rough time. I know that she is in Heaven with my family and they are rejoicing together.

  2. Bob and family. I am sooo saddened by the loss of Tekla. When I think of you Bob and Tekla. I think of how sincere and living the two of you are. I see Teklas smile everytime we talked and how she made me me always feel loved and the pride the both of you had in my choice to be an officer. You were proud as if I were one of your own. I will miss you smile tekla. I love you dearly but what a choir Jesus had now with the addition of your voice. Bob love you too. I will see you friday. Xoxo

She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.Hopefully you will be comforted by the Bible Verses that follow: Rev21:4-5 “AND HE WILL WIPE OUT EVERY TEAR FROM THEIR EYES AND DEATH WILL BE NO MORE,THE FORMER THINGS HAVE PASSED AWAY”

  4. On behalf of the class of 1956 Bremerton High, I would like to extend our sympathy and empathy to the family. Tekla was a very special person and loved by all. It was so wonderful to see & reunite with her again at our 2011 55th High School Reunion. We have also enjoyed reknowing her again through our class e-group. She will be greatly missed.
