Obituary

Stillman “Tai” Mostovoy
July 27, 1938-September 16, 2012
Tai entered into the arms of His Messiah on Rosh Hashanah, a day he would have chosen if he could. He was a beloved Pastor, Teacher, Counselor and friend to many here and abroad. He was always looking for ways to tell others of the love of Christ that he found as a young Jewish man. He was an actor in his youth, a man of many talents with a brilliant mind.
He and his wife, Joy, served faithfully together right up until the night he was called Home. He will be greatly missed, and always remembered for his wit, sense of fun, and deep commitment to the truth of the whole Bible. He is survived by his beloved wife Joy, and her family, his sister Paula Geigerman (Michael) and his dear nephew Danny. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM, Sept. 19th, at Word of His Grace Church in Bothell, WA.
Shalom, Beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend.

  1. It is and always will be an honor to sit under the annointing of Pastor Tai and Pastor Joy. Pastor Tai shared his love for Christ by awakening our spirit to the true meaning of the Jewish feasts and Festivals. Pastor Tai will be missed by all of his family and friends from Hawai’i Nei. Aloha ‘Oe dear brother, until we meet again…. Aloha Pumehana… The Ioane’s

  2. I knew Tai & his wife Joy, Tai introduced me to our shared Jewish roots. At his church in Seattle I was most privileged to experience my first Seder. I attended several Bible studies on the feasts as well as the end of age studies fulfilling Rosh haShanah & Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement) or Yom haPeduth (The day of Redemption) Essentially the “Great Shofar”. When I was unemployed, he and his wife hired me to work in their yard at their house in Bothell. Sure they graciously paid me a wage but secretly I got far more from Tai when I would take breaks and we would reason the Scriptures together. He seemed like a spiritual giant to me, though he treated me as though I was his kid brother. I gleaned so much from he and his beautiful wife. A couple decades later I heard rumors that he and his wife moved to Hawaii, to this day I do not know if this is true. I think it is fair to say that of all the mentors I have had the privilege of being tutored by. Tai Mostovoy was the most enlightening. In the 40 something years as one who waits on Adonai for the reveling of Bene elohim (The sons of G-d) the Lord used Tai to add a deep appreciation for the mysterious, wonderful, and awesome name of Jesus!

  3. Dear Tai, You walked into our lives with your warm, kind manner, and happy chuckle. With great patience and perseverance, you began to infuse us with the richness of the Hebraic foundation of our faith. How totally incredible it is to have the Word of God open up with amazing revelation we never would have seen, but you started us on that journey. We are dense, but you never made us feel that way as we plied you with question after question, often repeat ones. What a blessing to have had a spiritual Dad in you. We wish you were still among us, but who can deny the irresistible draw of the call home. We know all heaven is rejoicing at your homecoming, and we rejoice here on earth, thanking our Abba Father for His infinite goodness in bringing you into our lives. Heaven is an even dearer place with you already there. We thank you. We miss you. We love you. Aloha Ke Akua, The Tanimoto Ohana

  4. John Baker says:

I could count on good fellowship with Tai at SeaTac Airport when he worked for PanAm. I was a Port police officer. A very sweet man spreading the love of his Jesus. I really miss you, brother! I know I’ll see you in heaven.

  5. We will always remember Tai! He held a huge place in our hearts and we just were so blessed to have his friendship over many years. Knowing Tai…he told they Lord to take him on a Feast…since that was his heart! There were probably angels blowing shofars welcoming this precious son home!
We will miss him and so will all of us who knew him! We send our love and sympathies to Joy and family and hope to see you soon in Israel! Come anytime Joy we are here – you have a place to come to and we are family forever!
