Stanley Lewis Brainard, age 67, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021. Stanley was born to Blair and Esther Brainard in Chignik, Alaska and moved to Bellingham shortly after. He was the youngest of three siblings. He used to love to tell stories about his time growing up in Fairhaven. A favorite story was about the police contacting his mom to let her know her children were riding their bikes down the freeway, with Stan heading up the pack on his trike. Shortly after high school he married Kathy Magner and they had two children together, Justin and Tribby. Stan adored his children and spent every weekend with them camping, fishing, visiting the library, dirt biking, go-carting and building them an amazing treehouse.
Stan spent his career as a pipe fitter at Mobil/BP/Conoco Philips. He was a proud member of The United Steel Works Union and Oil Chemical and Atomic Workers Union. He could repair any pipe that he touched. Stan remarried in 1998 to his love Margaret and spent 23 wonderful years camping, traveling, visiting friends and enjoying retirement together.
Stan is survived by his wife Marg, his two children Justin and Heather Brainard of Blaine, Tribby and Michael Hanney of Snoqualmie, his granddaughters Alyxus and Alyssa of Arizona and Cerys Hanney of Snoqualmie, sister Diane Alvarez, and five great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Blaire and Esther Brainard and brother Butch Brainard.
There will be a small family ceremony at his beloved Cherry Point.
