Obituary

Spencer Reed Albans, age 42, passed away on August 3, 2017 after a car accident caused by a medical emergency. Spencer was born in Bellingham, WA on September 29, 1974 to Gary and Myong Suk Albans. Spencer graduated from Bellingham High School in 1992. While in high school he worked at Boomers Drive In. After graduating Spencer served in the United States Marines. Spencer worked as a cook at a variety of restaurants in Whatcom & Skagit Counties after the Marines, while also attending Whatcom & Skagit Community Colleges. Most recently, Spencer worked for Fed Ex and was finishing his degree at WCC.

Spencer enjoyed traveling in the US, Canada, Korea and Japan. A love of travel may have begun on a trip to Florida when he was 6 years old. His family still remembers the smile on his face that entire trip.

Spencer enjoyed camping trips and hikes with family and friends along with off roading in his pickup truck. Spencer was a collector. He collected figurines of all kinds, books, and recipes. Spencer also liked to cook, but only when he was getting paid for it. His family will always cherish the time they spent with Spencer, even as they remember his perpetually messy room.

  1. My heart goes out to Gary, Myong, and family; I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Spencer as a rather shy but dedicated member of my orchestras at Bellingham High School. He very much enjoyed playing concerts and touring with the groups, and was always willing to help when needed. Rest In Peace, Spencer.

  2. We send our condolences for the loss of your son, Spencer.
    God be with you

  3. Working with Spencer gave me a lot of confidence to make key decisions in my life. Spencer is one of the reasons my life is going as well as it is. He advised me on going to college, and was one of the few people I could tell actually wanted me to succeed. Rest easy, friend.

Spencer… We graduated High School together then both left for the Marine Corps. I’ll remember your dedication to preparing for boot camp as we took runs together. We ran into each other a few years back and swapped great stories! Rest easy my friend and USMC brother. Many blessings to you and your Family!

  5. I met Spencer about 3 years ago when we both got a job at FedEx. He became a real close friend real quick. We realized how much we had in common from syfy to the real world like the military. Especially when it came to star wars. We had plans to see all the new star wars movies together while also planning on going to the new star wars theme park. Even though i wont be able to do these things with him anymore i am just so happy to have met him and been able to discuss and plan these things with him. He will be missed, my prayers are with his family.
