Sharon Ann Johnson passed on peacefully in her childhood home surrounded by her family and friends the Saturday morning, October 26th, moving on to be with our ancestors. She was born June 2nd, 1962 in Bellingham, Washington to the late Ralph Richard Scott, Sr. and Rosalie Irene Scott (Jones).

Sharon graduated from Chemawa Indian School in Salem Oregon and continued on to Haskell Indian College in Kansas. During the summer, she spent her time fishing Salmon with her beloved father and sisters. Her first real job was working at Fisherman’s Cove Store with Linda James and Lucetta Toby as her supervisors. She also worked at Lummi Bingo with Aunt Mote and Aunt Mildred. Eventually she found her way to the Lummi Clinic, where she discovered her passion for helping people. She eventually became supervisor and spent 18 years working with community members as a Contract Health Supervisor, where she became instrumental in helping community members navigate our complicated health system. She worked for the Lummi Clinic for over 35 years and 10 months.

Sharon met her soulmate, Joe Johnson when she was in high school. They paused while she was at Chemawa and when she graduated, she and Joe resumed their lifelong relationship in 1981. Sharon married her best friend on October 6, 1989.

She was passionate about everything she did. She loved basketball, canoe pulling, but especially softball, maybe even a little on the obsessed-side of the game. She played and won many tournaments with the Lummi Nation Women’s Softball Team. She loved to cook and was particularly famous for her “famous burritos,” you could always find her during the Stommish Water Festival at her Burrito stand.

Sharon was preceded in death by her father, Ralph R. Scott, Sr., her grandparents, Earl and Mildred Jones and Lincoln Scott and Helen Hillaire Lawrence.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Johnson, sons; Scott and (Haley); Todd and (Lucy) Earl and (Kaleiolani), and Joe (Lona); Her mother, Rosalie Scott, sisters; Karen, Maureen (Steve Kinley), her brothers Ralph (Angel) and Ryan (Laurie). She is also survived by 4 grandchildren. Her Grand Children were her pride and joy. Mathias, Kara and Mikah Johnson and Lamara. She left behind numerous nieces and nephews and young men that called her mom.
