Obituary

Ruth Frances Cogswell passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 27, 2013. She was 88, born November 18, 1924 to Bert and Gertrude Chamberlain in Hudson, MA.
Ruth met and married the love of her life Charles in Massachusetts shortly after WWII. With a pioneering spirit they ventured west and settled in Bellingham, where they lived out the rest of their lives. They loved the area and enjoyed raising their children here.
Ruth had an unwavering love of God and family. She worked at the National Bank of Commerce and later on at Sehome High School Library. She was very active in Northwest Baptist Church where she played piano, organ, sang in the choir and helped with many activities. In her later years she found great joy in watching all the old shows on Chanel 12-MeTV. She loved to play card and board games and was a fierce competitor to the very end. In her declining years she would often ask why am I still here? I just want to go home and be with the Lord. Although we are saddened by her passing, we can rejoice in knowing she is safely home in the loving arms of the Father.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Charles. She is survived by her children, Linda, Paul, Gary, John, Sally; extended family including spouses, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Grandma & Grandpa had the biggest spiritual impact on my life for both my childhood and adulthood. They taught me how people should treat each other, love each other and love God. I am so so lucky to have been their grand daughter. I rejoice in knowing that they are together again and with God. I will forever miss Grandma’s warm smile and loving hugs. I will miss stopping by the house to play games and see her cashews and nips on the table. I will miss her stories about being young and dating my Grandpa. She was the best Grandmother in the world and now she is dancing in God’s light. I love you Grandma!
