Obituary

Born November 6th,1928 and graduated to Heaven April 4th, 2019.

Ruth Elaine (Bauman) Honcoop was born in Holland, Minnesota to Arlo and Johanna Bauman. When Ruth was about 4 years old, they relocated to Lynden where her father farmed in the Northwood area.

On February 14th, 1946, Ruth married William (Bill) A. Honcoop. Together they farmed in the Everson area and raised their six children: Larry, David, Deborah, Anita, Robyn, and Brian. Ruth was a homemaker and enjoyed baking, sewing, canning, and helping Bill with many of the barn and field chores.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie; her husband of 63 years, Bill; brother, Arlo (Bud) Bauman; sister, Lorna Wieldraayer; and her parents.

Survivors include her sister, Marlene Broersma Winkleman; children, Larry Honcoop, David (Kathleen) Honcoop, Anita (Edward) van der Elst, Robyn (Bruce) Burke, and Brian (Rebecca) Honcoop; 16 grandchildren; and 30 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 27th at 2pm at North County Christ the King Church (1816 18th St. Lynden) in the Family Room.

  1. I was surprised when I saw Anita’s post on FB. I’ve enjoyed over the years her posting of your Mom, as it was a way for me to have her in my life and brought back memories of my younger years!! I guess I was surprised, as I’d not see anything about her health declining. May you be comforted by memories of your Mom, and the Peace that the Lord has promised. ❤️
