Obituary

Ruby White died on Sunday, March 17th, at 2:51PM in Bellingham at 98 years of age.

She was born on August 11th, 1920, to Ben and Helen Filbey in the family home in Saskatchewan, Canada. She was number five of six children. She got married to Robert White and they had their first child, a son, born in the family home in Saskatchewan. Shortly after that, the couple moved to British Columbia. There they had two more children, one of whom died in a drowning accident at the age of two. In 1957, they moved to California. Not long after moving, two more children were added to the fold. In the early 60s, Ruby started a boarding home in Palo Alto, California, to take care of ageing WWII vets. She later opened other boarding homes and that became her occupation for many years. Ruby was one to get the job done and worked feverishly at whatever she did. She wasn’t afraid to take on anything, and no matter what she was doing, whether it was making the family home more comfortable or taking care of others, she did it well. It was the same with her church activities, she was a hard working and humble servant of God. In the mid 1970’s they moved to Sumas, Washington. Bob and Ruby, who had both been baptized at young age, became members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Ruby was very involved and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ very much. She very much looked forward to the day of Jesus’ return when all things would be made new. Years ago, she requested that the song “Never Give Up, Jesus is Coming” be sang at her memorial service. That will be done and it was her wish for everyone to never give up and be ready for that day when He returns. She is sleeping like Lazarus was. Resurrection day is coming!

She outlived her siblings by many years and was predeceased by one child and one grandchild. She left behind five children, 14 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 13th, 2019 at 2:00PM at the Everson Seventh Day Adventist Church (701 Roeder Ave. Everson, 98247).
