Obituary

Roy Willard Nicholas died on August 2, 2017. A native of Bellingham, Roy attended Bellingham High School. After serving his country in the U.S. Navy, Roy went on to become a professional locksmith. He was a member of Immanuel Bible Church in Bellingham.

Among his many interests, Roy enjoyed fishing, camping, and performing community service. He was a member of ALOA, and NWLA professional associations, and served as Convention Chair for Tri-Regional Locksmiths. He was also involved in Bellingham Central Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, VFW, and Boy Scouts of America.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Helga Nicholas. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Dolores; sons Richard (Kay), Bryan (Kim), Larry (Jessica); grandchildren Jacob, Josh, Rachael, Daniel, Rebecca, Nathan, Jessica Ann, Kelly, Sammuel, and Andrew; and 5 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on August 19 at Immanuel Bible Church at 1PM.

  1. My sisters and I send our condolences to Dolores and the rest of your family. I am sorry that we have just learned about Roy’s passing from my cousin Eric who learned from his brother Curt. We wish that we had kept in touch better-I think we last met at Birch Bay when the Swedish relatives were visiting. I have some genealogy questions to ask of you based on Roy’s research and would appreciate hearing from someone in the family who has taken on the record keeping. I know you are all grieving and I am so sorry for your loss.
