Obituary

Rosalee Ferguson passed away February 7th, 2017, at Shuksan Healthcare Center, of congestive heart failure. She was 89.

Rosalee was born to Cecil Bannister and Eileen Morrow on May 16th, 1927 in Bellingham where she resided her entire life. As a young girl, she embraced her role as the eldest of five siblings. She attended local schools and later married Bert Ferguson in March of 1947. They welcomed their only daughter, Kim, in June of 1950. Rosalee and Bert enjoyed 58 years of marriage until Bert’s passing on November 24th, 2005.

In addition to being a homemaker, Rosalee enjoyed her time as a Bluebird leader for Kim’s troop. She also worked at the Carl Cozier Elementary School Library for four years and later devoted countless hours to the residents at the Sehome Convalescent Center. But perhaps her most treasured role was being Mimi to her only granddaughter, Cambie.

Always a gracious hostess, Rosalee maintained a beautifully decorated home and loved to entertain friends and family. She led an active social life and developed many long-lasting friendships in the community. With a flair for elegance, Rosalee’s floral arrangements and holiday decor are fondly remembered. She was a member of a sewing club and pinochle club.

She is survived by daughter Kim and her husband Roger, granddaughter Cambie and her partner Moroni, great-grandson Forest, sisters Charlotte Clark and Sharon Castillo, many thoughtful nieces and nephews, and special friend Jim Houpt. She was preceded in death by her husband Bert and brothers Herbert and Richard Bannister.

Rosalee was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She will be so deeply missed by all.
