Roman Richard Sarwas returned home to our loving Father in Heaven on August 30th, 2022, at Spring Creek assisted living facility in Bellingham, WA. He was 81 years old at the time of his passing, born February 28th,1941 in Milwaukee, WI.

He took great joy being outdoors in nature. He was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life. In his later years he took to gardening, carving decoys, and building cedar wood kayaks. He fell in love with the Northwest at that time. After graduating dental school he moved to Bellingham WA and started his dental practice in 1966. He wore many different hats in his time. From truck driver and machinist (to put himself through school to become a Dentist) Machine gunner and thoroughbred horse breeder.

  1. Ted Royal says:

I met Rome when I was about 20 and needed my wisdom teeth out. I had no insurance and was paying cash. He said “60 dollars for all 4, but 2 at a time so you can eat.”
That started a long and fruitful relationship for us in his office. He was a master and did good work, and after all these years the work has held up real well.
One time I could feel the drilling and let him know, he just turned up the nitrous oxide and kept going!
He was very friendly and I just loved him.
Oh, and he came to my house in Maple Falls, on his way to Mt Baker to ski, and pulled the stitches out of my gums from those wisdom teeth!

R.I.P. Doctor Sarwas, I’ll never forget you.

  2. We very much enjoyed our time together at Birch Bay, afternoon’s and/or evening’s on either his or Mike’s patio enjoying the best of summer.
Always up for a laugh and a joke, either Ike or Bart hanging out, we had some marvelous times.
You are sorely missed and will not be forgotten
    Love ya, Rudy and Lita

  3. A good and decent person along with being a good dentist. RIP
