Obituary

Roger Allen Davies

Aug 6, 1953-March 6, 2025

Roger was born in Seattle and grew up in Kirkland, Washington. Living on the lake, he enjoyed the water and boats and never lost that love.

In 1975, Roger and Laurie Hurd were married, and their adventures began. He started his construction company that year and built many spec and custom houses throughout the years. In 1979, he purchased a 36-foot sailboat hull.  He built the boat in his backyard and launched it into the water in 1981.  That boat, The Free Spirit, took them to many places: the San Juans, Canada, San Francisco, and Hawaii.  Together, they had many wonderful sailing adventures.

Roger and Laurie had two children, Jeffrey Roger Davies, born in 1980, and Julianne Helen Davies, born in 1982, and eventually found themselves with seven wonderful grandchildren: Eli, Elle, Evan, Melia, Kayla, Tiago, and Faith. His life was filled with yearly ski trips, sailing, building a cabin on Center Island, and traveling.

Roger loved life, always had a new idea, always creating and building.  He was a wonderful, loving husband and an amazing Dad and Manpa.  Roger was genuinely interested in others and a friend to many. He had the ability to engage and make those he just met feel welcome and at home.  He was so funny and yet always had words of wisdom for anyone who needed them. Roger was deeply loved and will forever be missed.

I miss you Roger more than I can say. You made a huge impact on my life, my childrens lives & that of our whole family. Always there for a laugh, a smile, a joke, a story, or just a hug. Thanks for being my big brother.. We will try to carry on & will always remember & celebrate you & the wonderful person you are. Our loss is heavens gain. 💔

  2. Oh Dad, I miss you every day. Your poses, your tik toks, our deep conversations, your laughter, your hugs (they were the best hugs), your concern, your care, and so much more. You were just here and now you’re gone. I know there’s a bigger plan and you’re probably sailing the ocean blue in Heaven and building a beautiful cabin in Heaven. But I miss you here. You weren’t just a great Dad and Manpa, you were exceptional. There is a void in my life now and it makes me so sad. I love you beyond measure. Your life is a story of an incredible soul who worked hard, played hard, and loved hard. I have no doubts Jesus greeted you with a “job well done son.” I love you Dad. Have a great time in Heaven and I look forward to when I get to see you again.

  3. Roger, I miss you so much. You have been the best husband and I will always miss being together with you in this life. How life will be going forward is much too hard to even fathom. Just know how much you are loved and missed. You ran a good race my love and I feel blessed to have had you for as long as I did.
