Obituary
Roberta S. “Bobbin” Wilson, age 84, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025.
Bobbin’s greatest joy in life was her family—her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—who lit up her world and filled her life with love.
A lifelong learner, Bobbin graduated from Western Washington University in 1974 with a degree in Education and dedicated her career to the Nooksack Valley School District. As a beloved librarian, she inspired generations of students with her passion for reading, her gift for storytelling, and her deep belief in the power of knowledge.
She had a remarkable memory and a rare ability to recall the names and stories of nearly everyone who passed through the library. Conversations with her were a joy—filled with curiosity, warmth, and a genuine interest in others. She found beauty in both the vast and the minute, from whales and birds to the everyday wonders of the natural world. Her family will deeply miss her warmth, her presence, and the comfort of her embrace.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to Christian Health Care Center for the wonderful care Bobbin received over the last few years, and to her devoted care team for their kindness and support.
To honor Bobbin’s memory, we invite you to celebrate her love of books and learning in one of the following ways:
- Pick up a book you’ve been meaning to read, or reread an old favorite.
- Share a book, an excerpt, or start a conversation about a story that moves you.
- Support your local library—Whatcom County Libraries offer incredible free resources and need our support more than ever.
- Consider donating to expand the Hi-Lo collection at Nooksack Valley High School—high-interest, low-reading-level books that help engage and empower developing readers.
Bobbin is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her daughter Jeannie and son-in-law Galen; her grandchildren Braeden, Brianne, Brooke, Brandt, Brennen, and Brenell; their significant others; and her great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives on in each of them, and their love for their Nana is endless.

Deepest condolences to Jeannie, Galen, and families. She was a remarkable soul and a wonderful Librarian sharing her gifts and knowledge through books and engaging with others. My mom, a fellow Librarian, always enjoyed her and had nothing but praise for her. May she rest peacefully in her Makers arms. Love and peace,

I was a TA for Ms. Wilson in the second half of my junior and first half of my senior year at NVHS. We always kind of butted heads but she in no small part is the reason I’ve worked in a library for the past 20 years. I was struggling with my US history class and couldn’t find anything on Native American history that I could use for class. She seen me struggling and one day I came in to start my shift and she asked me “Have you been in the staff room yet?” I figured she was talking about work that I had waiting for me. I walked in and there was a big stack of newspapers that she had copied for me about things like A.I.M. and the occupation of Alcatraz, definitely things that weren’t in books. I was blown away I couldn’t believe it. She simply asked me to leave them for other students in the future. After that our relationship completely changed and we got along really well. I am sad to hear about her passing, I didn’t realize the impact she had on me I really wish that I had a chance to tell her myself.
