Obituary

Robert Bob Marsh passed away on Saturday 3/23/2013 at the age of 67 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Bellingham and married to Claudia Groom-Marsh, his lifelong sweetheart, for over 48 years. Rob has two sons, Patrick William Marsh and Michael James Marsh and one daughter Catherine Lee Marsh (who preceded him in death in 1975).

He had a long and purposeful career on the Bellingham Fire Department where he began in 1968 then made captain at age 33 and served faithfully until his retirement after 27 years. He was well respected by not only retired fire department members but by many still serving on the BFD. Rob also had experience working as a mechanic, driving trucks, and serving in the National Guard. His interests were often associated with motorcycles, hunting, mechanics and anything of a gas functioning nature. His mechanical skills, willingness to help others, wry smile and sense of humor impacted many and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife Claudia Lee Groom-Marsh; sons Patrick Marsh and Michael Marsh; his brother Douglas Marsh; sister Stephanie Marsh-Grissom; granddaughter Taylor Thomas-Marsh; nephew James Martin Schafer and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father James R. Marsh, and mother Margaret E. Marsh; brother Dale James Marsh; sister in-law Sally Marie Groom and father in-law Bert William Groom.
