Obituary
Robert Sandeen passed away in Bellingham, WA on August 13th. He was 96. He was born in Hector MN. to Edgar and Helen Sandeen on May 19th, 1928.
After graduating from Hector HS he served in the US Army Engineering Corps. Upon discharge he began an engineering career. On May 11th, 1950 he was united in Marriage to Carrol M Pfeil and together they raised two boys Richard and Jeffrey. His career was interrupted in late 1950 when he was recalled into service and shipped out to Korea. He was honorably discharged in late 1951, returned to his wife and met his 7 mo old son for the first time.
His career resumed, he worked for the Minnesota Highway department, and other state, city, and county governments. He was assistant City Engineer in Mankato, moved to Faribault to become their City Engineer. In 1972 after both his sons had graduated from HS he accepted a job with Dakota County Engineering Dept as Construction-Maintenance Engineer. Soon after he was appointed Dakota County Engineer. He was registered in the State of Minnesota as both a Highway and Civil Engineer.
In 1985 he retired and with his wife Carrol sold their home and purchased a Motorhome. In it they traveled the US, often taking their young grandson Aaron with them during summers. In 1990 they settled in Bellingham WA.
Robert is survived by his son Richard and Wife Ann-Fran of Bellingham, son Jeffrey and Wife Lauren of Minneapolis, MN. and grandson Aaron of Park City UT. Robert was a long-time member of Garden Street Methodist Church of Bellingham.
Per his wishes there will be no service. His only wish was that his sons, their wives and his grandson gather, talk and cook together to celebrate a life well lived, and that we did. He told us all that family was the greatest gift and that he loved his dearly. He will be greatly missed.

I will miss Bob and all his wonderful stories. He told me a lot about his sons and grandson and his wife. We would talk every morning at 7:15 a.m.. I’m going to miss him very much. Love, DeeAnna
