  1. Hi Bob,
This is Clark Cumings Johnson, Class of ’58, Caro High School. I don’t know if you remember me or can’t forget me. As I recall, you, George Quinn and I were in a constant battle for the highest grades in our respective courses [Arleigh Mauntner’s Math classes and Miss. Neal’s English classes come to mind although there were several others]. Unfortunately, the honors typically went to either you or George as I tended to be preoccupied with more earthly issues or matters of the flesh. However, all was not lost as your positive influence allowed me to earn my high school diploma, much to the surprise of many, I’m sure. Back then, that was really something as the public schools were institutions of merit and development which stood all of us well for our futures. So, I am here to say thank you for not only that, but also your friendship. Although I never got to meet your family, I want to say I miss you and will see you soon. Our 60th class reunion is in a few days and I will pass along your remembrance to the assembled multitude,

    Clark Cumings Johnson,
    Caro High School, “58
