  1. Proverbs 15:13-14 glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is crushed.14 The heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge, but the mouths of fools feed on folly.
Grandpa, my heart is broken and my soul is crushed as so many memories and conversations overwhelm me. Your warm and gentle smile, with your amusement in saying “Oh, is that right?” or the beautiful music that I have listened to all of my life chimes in. Literally music to my ears. I always remembering watching you and Gma perform the music………..simply because you loved it. Chuckle, it was always just that simple. You have always been the most positive and encouraging man I have ever known. Your love and dedication has reflected in everything that you have done for me and/or our not so little family. You are more than a significant part of my life, you truly are a root that has helped me blossom into the strong woman that I am today. Thank you Gpa for showing us the true meaning of unconditional love. I love you and miss you desperately.

    Always,
    April

  2. PROVERBS 17:22— A MERRY HEART DOES GOOD LIKE A MEDICINE: BUT A BROKEN SPIRIT DRIES THE BONES.
Grandpa, If I had another 88 years to talk to you, it would not be enough time to express how much I love you and appreciate the innumerable blessings from your life. My experiences and memories of you and your beloved wife, my precious Grandma Gloria, are the bedrock foundation my life has been built upon. Never have I seen two people so true to their loves, in their hearts and their lives. I spent my youth yearning for someone to care enough about my life to lead me and guide me into the truth that GOD had prepared for me. Someone to say to me that they loved me no matter how bad I tripped and stumbled my way through the challenges that I was facing in life. I was neglected and abandoned by those our society had said were supposed to be there for me, only to find that the only ones that never flinched or hid from me were Bob and Gloria , my ever loving and Grandparents. There you were always modeling true unity together as ONE!!! There you were IN COVENANT WITH GOD as Mr. Robert J. and Mrs.Glorious Irene Wood. Always entertaining us and the world as Bobby-Joe and Glo-rene!!! Faithfully fighting every battle side by side as R.J. and Glory!!! You merged our two broken and hurting families; so in need of your steadfast leadership; only to become the bonified creators of the blueprints for what is now called BLENDED FAMILIES!!! That is why my most prized picture with you is our 4 generation shot we took at Children’s Hospital of you, me, dad and my firstborn son, Zechariah. I will never get another chance to take such a monumental picture. I’m eternally grateful for that memory.
One of my most cherished memories was when I got to sing “Jonny Be Good” on stage, right smack dab in the middle of the show, before the whole clan. You played your 12 string, Grandma tickling the Ivories, Great Grandpa Gordon with his 6 string, Great uncles Jim and Rodney on banjo and juice harp and the one Grandma called Slick on drums. You and Grandma never stopped smiling at me the whole time, giving me cues to stay up with your lead. 5 courses on the mic later and my life changed forever. Now my kids sit all starry eyed on my knee as I tell them of our FAMILY ROCKY TONK CONCERTS. The simple fact is that ONLY YOU have ever been able to pull off our now fabled Wood Music Inc.produced, trans continental multi generational musical family reunion HONKY-TONK… aka Our now legendary “PULLAR PARTIES!!” I have never seen their comparison nor your equals, we truly were blessed beyond comprehension, YOU DID THAT!!! They have ever been the envy of all the clans, making many a friend while they lasted. I still hear memories from time to time from people I have never met because only you and Grandma held the honor to know all who came through the door. You truly are larger than life. TRUE LEGENDS IN YOUR OWN TIME!!!!
Grandpa I want to let you know how special you are to my family and me because of your unwavering decision to live, love and lead our great family according to the LOVE OF GOD SHED ABROAD IN YOU HEART BY THE HOLY GHOST. You have been the finest example of how to live by HIS truth, walk in HIS grace and share HIS love with everyone. Your example has ever been before me as my life has been transformed by that same JESUS you shamelessly represented every moment I was watching, never forcing anything upon anyone. I am proud to be eternal fruit that abounds to your account. In my personal life, my wife and children will forever be indebted to you. My blessed wife Jessee Lynn wants you to know that, if you had not taught me how to handle the restoration of a battered woman’s heart with the love of Jesus and a soft answer to turn away wrath, she would be dead and her children lost forever. There is no way for us to express our gratitude in human words, so we are all rejoicing with you and your heavenly glorification through our spirits by the love and leading of the LORDS HOLY SPIRIT. We are all blessed to have been loved by you, and thank you for fulfilling all of Grandma’s dreams, you have changed all our worlds for the best. WE LOVE YOU FOREVER….p.s. we’ll see you sooner than later alligator. See you in air at that last TRUMPET BLAST !!! Jesus come quickly!!!
