Bellingham

Robert James Worthen was born on January 17, 1963 to Bob and Jean Worthen at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bellingham. He passed away on May 31, 2014 at the Whatcom Hospice House in Bellingham, after a long battle with ailments caused by diabetes.

Robert was a graduate of Bellingham High School, class of 1981, and continued his education at the Bellingham Vocational and Technical Institute where he took accounting courses from his favorite instructor, Mr. Schact, who was also his math teacher in high school. Robert’s last employment was at T-Mobile, where he worked from 1999 to 2008. Not only was he enjoyed by most everyone he worked with, but he equally enjoyed his co-workers.

He enjoyed attending many services at Christ the King, but could not always attend due to health problems. Pastor Kevin Brearley from Christ the King will be officiating the ceremony, as he was also Robert’s friend.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert Worthen Sr., and his aunt Brenda Barton. Rob and his family would like to extend many thanks to the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital, North Cascade Cardiology, and the Mt. Baker Kidney Center. They would also like to thank Benita from Visiting Nurse/CCS, Emily at Whatcom Counseling, Carol and Bill Rode (for being available 24/7, the dependable drivers of WTA, for being there in any kind of weather, and the huge pool of support received from all members of Rob’s immediate and extended family, friends, and his dog Rowdy, who was the greatest therapy on Rob’s toughest days.

Farewell Tribute Information

There will be a funeral and graveside service followed by a reception at Greenacres Funeral Home and Memorial Park on Friday, June 6, 2014, beginning at 1:00 PM. Donations Information

In lieu of flowers, Rob and his family/friends request that memorial donations be made to Whatcom Hospice Foundation (2901 Squalicum Parkway, Bellingham, WA 98225) or Signature Home Health Care (401 Harris Ave #320, Bellingham, WA 98225).
