Obituary

Robert Charles Jackson passed away in Bellingham, WA on December 19, 2021. He was born on July 25, 1934, to Herbert and Helen Jackson, of Bellingham. Robert graduated from Bellingham High School in 1952. He married Marlene Frances Miller in 1955, and together they raised 4 children. After high school, Robert went to work as a commercial fisherman in Washington and Alaska. In 1960, he started the retail seafood business at Fisherman’s Market. He then went on to own Harbor House Restaurant at the Bellingham Marina.

Robert of course loved fishing, but also golf and traveling. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. Robert’s hard work, great sense of humor, and ability to captivate with a good story made him well known by many throughout his life.

Robert is preceded in death by his wife Marlene, daughter Laurie Jackson (York), brother Lyle Jackson and his family, and sister Carolyn Jackson.

He is survived by daughter Kerri Newton, sons Robert L. Jackson and Jeff (Janet) Jackson, 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to Whatcom Hospice and the Whatcom Humane Society.

A funeral service for Robert will be held on Thursday, January 20, 1:00pm at Moles Farewell Tributes – Greenacres in Ferndale.

    Bob, my longtime friend, you will be missed by many of us. It was 1952 when you and I were deck hands on our first Alaska Season. You were 17 and I was 19. It was the greatest experience. We each went different directions and now it is over. Thank you for being my friend.
