Obituary

Robert was born Friday the 13th of July 1945 in Brooklyn. NY to Walter and Alice (Johnson) Englund.
After high school graduation, Robert took one year of college and decided to work for a bank. When he was twenty, he went to work as an apprentice for Ma Bell and he worked for the phone company for 42 ½ years as a splicer. In September of 1978, Robert married Pat Vega in Bellingham and they raised four children together.
A lover of a good bargain, Robert was always scouting local garage sales for treasures to add to his many collections. He also loved giving and receiving gifts and generously showered Pat with many presents throughout the years. He enjoyed cigars and good food and was always willing to share his treats. His family will miss the sound he made when you poked his belly and the way he always greeted you with a big hug. Robert was also a cinephile, with a particular love of war movies. He was constantly criticizing the misuse of props in period films. He was friendly, loving, and was known for humorous “garage banter”.
He is predeceased by his parents; brother, Walter; and Aunty Eleanore.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 42 years, Pat Englund; daughters, Roseleta (Richard) Kirkham, Cleo Englund, and Maribeth Englund; son, Jonathan (Melissa) Englund; grandchildren, Samantha Jo John, Curtis Englund, and Dante Boyd; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He will be laid to rest at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale, WA.
