Obituary

Robert Leonard Swanson passed away on Nov. 27, 2020, just 6 months after suddenly losing his wife, Audrey, in May of this year. They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Dec. 2 and it seems most appropriate they are together now.
He was born in Bellingham in 1930. At 90 years of age he still tended his garden and yard, he loved to work and be productive. He started his young work life on the Milwaukee Railroad in 1948, hauling logs from Deming to the mills in Bellingham. He worked in the offices of St. Luke’s Hospital and Intalco, and finally in 1978 he began Swanson Construction, joining his grandfather Anton, Father Leonard, son Greg and his grandson Jeff’s trade of home building. In retirement, he used his construction skills to build children’s camps in Brazil and other countries with World Missions.
Robert is preceded in death by his only sister Betty Johnson, his wife Audrey, and daughter Deborah Swanson.
Surviving children are Greg Swanson and his wife Lynda, Connie Hernandez and her husband Andrew, and daughter Antonette ‘Toni’ Swanson, plus his 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Due to the challenges of keeping friends and family safe from the Covid pandemic, a private service will be held at Greenacres Memorial park later this year.
