Obituary

Rita Vasquez Olivarez

Rita Vasquez Olivarez loving wife and mother passed at age 70 at her home in Lynden on January 30, 2013. Rita was born in Toppenish Washington to Benjamin and Della Vasquez on September 4, 1942.
Her family moved shortly after to Lynden. Ritas spent her young life full of laughter and love with four siblings; Trina Gomez of Mount Vernon, Stella Cazares of Los Angeles, Elsie Booth of Moses Lake, and Anne Pike of Everson. After graduating from Lynden High School, Rita married her loving husband Hector Olivarez and shared their lives together for 51 years raising their beautiful family.
Rita was known for her dedication to her children, husband and church. She spent her entire life devoted to our heavenly father and her family. She found joy serving those around her. Rita loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, sisters and friends. Her love for others has touched far beyond her immediate family. Each of her children brought friends, loved ones and pets through her front door and it easily became the home of so many others outside her family. Acquaintances found comfort, in her loving home and her door was always open.
Ritas final days were spent at home surrounded by family. You felt love when you passed through her door and the transparency of her childrens hearts touched your soul as they cared for their mother during her transition.
Rita is survived by her loving husband, Hector Olivarez; children Jeanie (Herb) Toews of Canada, Hector Jr. Olivarez of Lynden, Esther (Russ) Thompson of Sammamish, Bob Olivarez of Redmond, Melissa Olivarez of Redmond and Sonia Olivarez of Woodinville; grandchildren Jordan, Alex, Hailey, and Jake; sisters Elsie Booth of Moses Lake and Anne (Ken) Pike of Everson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rita is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin & Della Vasquez; sisters Trina Gomez, and Stella Cazares; and nephews Lawrence Menchaca and Johnny Ozuna. As Ritas journey here comes to an end we will rejoice her reunion with her loving parents, sisters and nephews as she joins our father in peace and happiness.
