Obituary

Richard Charles Hanowell, 94, passed away on September 5th, 2023. He was born in Nooksack, WA to parents George and Agnes on October 23, 1928.

Richard went to school in Ferndale, and was a dairy farmer, and a bricklayer throughout his life. He met the love of his life at an early age and they spent 77 wonderful years together. After three years of dating, he married Patricia Hitchcock. Richard built her a four-bedroom solid brick house, and they had five children together. They were married for 74 years!

Richard loved square dancing, spending time with his family, and going to Winthrop with his wife to stay with his daughter and son in-law. They went 21 times in seven years!

He is pre-deceased by his parents George and Agnes, siblings George and Doris, and daughter Susan. Richard is survived by his Wife Patricia
of 74 years, children Steven, Daniel, Dixie and Dawn, as well as about 50 grandchildren.

When asked what she will remember most about Richard, Patricia says “that we loved each other.”

Memorial Service September 30th, 1pm at Ferndale
Senior Center, all who knew and loved him are welcome.
