Randy was warm, engaging, kind and passionate from the moment we met. I was very drawn to Randy and consider him a friend. I relied on him to help me broaden my perspective and knowledge on natural resources issues and tribal/state relationships and my respect for him goes beyond words. I’m choked up with sadness and tears as I will miss seeing him, hearing his voice and spending time navigating issues of conflict and challenge. I like and appreciate everything about Randy and am so grateful to have had the honor of knowing him, although for too short of a period of time. I will miss him terribly.I am so very sorry for your loss and send you healing thoughts and prayers.
With love and respect, JT Austin, GOVERNOR’S Office

I liked Randy so much and I will miss him terribly. His passion, his humor, his commitment, his willingness to tell the truth, even when difficult, always impressed me immensely. He was a professional colleague and a true friend. He was absolutely committed to environmental protection, to restoring Puget Sound and its salmon runs, but he also knew there was a time to relax, have some fun and enjoy each others company.
My main regret is I didn’t get to spend more time with him.

My heart goes out to Randy’s family and friends.
