Obituary

We gather here today to remember and celebrate the life of Ramona Delores (Reve) Owings, a cherished member of our community, a loving presence in our lives, and a beacon of joy and resilience. Born on June 19, 1934, to Mary Solomon and Emanuel Revey, Sr., Ramona’s journey through life was marked by an unwavering spirit of kindness and a heart full of love. She departed from this world on July 27, 2024, at the age of 90, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and compassion that touched the hearts of all who knew her. Her most incredible legacy was her marriage to her soulmate William “Bill” Owings in 1961, and the 7 children they collectively had.

Ramona, or ‘Monie’ to those who cherished her, was more than a caregiver. Her dedication and love as a ‘domestic engineer’ transformed her home into a sanctuary for her children, their cousins, and friends. Many found solace and joy under her loving care, often experiencing their first taste of travel and camping. Her influence extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of her community.

One of the most important things in her life was her family. This and her love for her creator were the core of her being. It gave her the strength she carried all her life. She believed we were brought together in this life, not by accident but by God’s plan. She felt blessed to be placed here with her soul mate, children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her tribal community. We were even more blessed to have her in our lives.

Ramona’s life was a tapestry of joy and love woven with her diverse interests. She found solace in her garden, nurturing her favorite flowers-dahlias, roses, and tulips. The thrill of a baseball game, the adventure of travel, the comfort of crocheting, and the joy of creating things for her family were all sources of happiness for her. Her love extended to her fur babies and the wildlife she fed; she has a special place in her heart for the Sasquatch, as they were our wild relatives. And as the sun set on her property, she found peace and beauty in the moment.

Our late love one is survived by her children Joe Point, Carol Parsons (Vincent ), Cheryl Toler (Timothy), Michael Owings (Debbie), William Owings Jr. (Mia), and Donald Owings Brown (Lusia) her sister Maria Palmer, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother Mary Solomon, father Emanuel Revey, husband William “Bill” Owings, daughter Valentina “Tina” Revey;  her sisters Marion Jefferson and Rita Deardorff; her brothers Christopher Revey, Emanuel Revey, and Valentino “Tino” Revey.

Ramona was deeply grateful for the support and friendship she found at the Kidney Center. The staff there became more than just caregivers; they became her friends.

Ramona’s life was a tapestry of beautiful moments woven together by the relationships she nurtured and the lives she enriched. Her laughter was infectious, her wisdom profound, and her generosity boundless. She was a friend and auntie to many, a mentor to some, and a source of light and guidance to her beloved family.

As we bid farewell to Ramona, let us not dwell on the sorrow of her absence but rather embrace the countless memories she has gifted us. Let us find comfort in the knowledge that her spirit continues to live on through each of us, guiding us like a lighthouse through the storms of life.

In honor of Ramona, let us carry forward her legacy of love. Let us be kinder, love deeper, and smile more often, just as she did. And remember that though she may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever walk within us. She truly believed, “If you didn’t have the battle, you wouldn’t know the victory.” Let us carry on this resilient mindset that she taught us every day of her life, regardless of the adversity we faced as she did.

Ramona Delores Owings left an indelible mark on our hearts, and we are eternally grateful for the time we shared with her. She will be forever in our hearts.
