Peter P Lee

Obituary

Peter died of a heart attack on Blanchard Mountain sometime at the end of January. He was hiking alone to Oyster Dome, something he had always wanted to do. He died either going up or coming down. We think he made it.
Peter was born in Bellingham, WA, May 1, l941 to Gladyce and Raymond Lee. He is survived by his brother, Roger Lee of Houston, TX, two sisters, Margie Lee of Portland, OR and Georgie Bailey of Bellingham, WA, niece, Anne Piatt of Bremerton, WA and nephew, Fred Bailey of Beaverton, OR. Peter was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Berit Lee.
Peter graduated from Bellingham High School in 1959. He then attended college at Western Washington University and Cornish School of the Arts in Seattle. Many people enjoy his art in their homes.
Peter was also into music. He sang for years with Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church choir and the Norwegian Male Chorus. His impersonations of Elvis Presley were “famous.”
Peter served in the Navy. Later he owned and managed a record store (Syndicate Of Sound) and a bookstore (Peter Poppin). Still later, he was a caregiver for his mother and volunteered for RSVP doing yard work for elderly people.
Peter was humble, gracious, and appreciative. Thanks be to God for Peter and our memories of him.
A memorial service will be held at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church Monday, February 8th at 11am. Memorials may be made to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church missions.

  1. I have many fond memories of times spent at Woodstock Farm.Peter and I would jam to the music of the day. He even had a setup as a DJ. I think it was in the old chicken house. I was with Peter on the opening day of his music store Syndicate of Sound. He loved the music scene. We spent a lot of time together when I first moved to Seattle to work for Boeing and Pete came to Seattle to attend school at Cornish. Blessings to Georgie, Roger and Margie on the passing of their brother.

  4. So very sorry to hear of this loss. I am praying for the family and offer my condolences. I have just heard of this and while it has been many years since I have seen or talked to Peter, I know he was a tremendous individual, caring and generous. If you read this Georgie, please know, I will pray for him and for the rest of your family as well.

  5. Peace be with you Margie, Roger, Georgie and Denny! So shocked to see Peter has gone home to his Heaven Father. Peter will be remembered by many of us, when we were younger and enjoyed the experience of his music store Syndicate of Sound. His love for music and the time of rebellion in the 60’s will be with many of us as a place of our youth.
