Peter P Lee

Obituary

Peter died of a heart attack on Blanchard Mountain sometime at the end of January. He was hiking alone to Oyster Dome, something he had always wanted to do. He died either going up or coming down. We think he made it.
Peter was born in Bellingham, WA, May 1, l941 to Gladyce and Raymond Lee. He is survived by his brother, Roger Lee of Houston, TX, two sisters, Margie Lee of Portland, OR and Georgie Bailey of Bellingham, WA, niece, Anne Piatt of Bremerton, WA and nephew, Fred Bailey of Beaverton, OR. Peter was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Berit Lee.
Peter graduated from Bellingham High School in 1959. He then attended college at Western Washington University and Cornish School of the Arts in Seattle. Many people enjoy his art in their homes.
Peter was also into music. He sang for years with Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church choir and the Norwegian Male Chorus. His impersonations of Elvis Presley were “famous.”
Peter served in the Navy. Later he owned and managed a record store (Syndicate Of Sound) and a bookstore (Peter Poppin). Still later, he was a caregiver for his mother and volunteered for RSVP doing yard work for elderly people.
Peter was humble, gracious, and appreciative. Thanks be to God for Peter and our memories of him.
A memorial service will be held at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church Monday, February 8th at 11am. Memorials may be made to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church missions.
