Obituary

On April 30, 2017, Peggy M. Adams completed her stay on Earth before heading out to meet her Heavenly Father. She was born February 8, 1927 in Upham, North Dakota to Ida and Oscar Herschlip. She grew up on the family farm and moved into Minot with her sisters to attend high school.

She met Casey (Clarence) Adams while attending a church youth group. They soon married and moved to Lafayette, Indiana. There she worked as a legal secretary while Casey finished his degree in mechanical engineering. They moved back to Minot, North Dakota for a while where their eldest son, Roger, was born. In 1951, the three moved to Seattle, Washington as Casey accepted a job at Boeing. There they purchased a home in Kirkland and Peggy had two more children, Jim and Dianne.
In Kirkland, they joined St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Peggy loved volunteering and was a proud member of the Ladies Aid and the Altar Guild. Along with being very involved in the local community, they met a great group of friends that soon became close as family. Peggy was also president of the Good Shepherd Home Auxiliary, and spent many long hours with fund raising activities and board meetings in California, Oregon, and Washington.

She moved to Bellingham during Casey’s battle with Alzheimer’s, not only be closer to family, but also to be closer to Casey’s care facility as well. She lived in her second home for 20 years and we are very grateful she could stay here with us until the end.
Peggy loved outings, especially with close friends and family. Fishing, bird hunting, and rockhounding were among her favorite events. Throughout all the numerous fishing trips across multiple states, her trips to Point No Point were by far her favorites. Her love of adventure was matched by her love of sports. Peggy was a longtime fan of the Seattle Seahawks and Mariners baseball. She enjoyed getting together with family and watching the games, almost always sporting a sweatshirt or jersey representing the team. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were truly the most cherished part of her life. We will never forget her dry sense of humor, the full candy dish, and the “I love You Mores.” Nor will we forget her rose garden, the fishing trips, and her stubborn streak.

Peggy is preceded in death by her loving husband Casey Adams, parents Ida and Oscar Herschlip, brother Orville Herschlip, sister Genevieve Kitzman, and stepbrothers Walter and Clarence Urban. She is survived by her loving family, Roger and Barbara Adams, Jim Adams and Trish Twomey, Dianne and Verne Jorgenson, her grandchildren Melissa Stoddard, Matt Adams, Tye Jorgenson, Kole Jorgenson, Casey Adams, great-grandchildren Kaedan Adams, Jack Stoddard, Claire Stoddard, and her favorite sister Evelyn Matehs.

Her Bible is well worn from constant use, and her faith served as a guiding light for her life. One of the many passages that is bookmarked, underlined, and highlighted is John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

God bless you Mom, and keep your tip up! We love you more!
