Obituary

Pearl Hickey

Pearl Hickey, age 90, passed away peacefully
July 19, 2012 at Shuksan Health Care Center
in Bellingham, WA.

Pearl was born in Bellingham on June 22, 1922
to Carl and Emma Sorensen. Pearl married her
sweetheart, Earl Hickey, on November 8, 1942.

Pearl shared her husband’s entrepreneurial spirit,
so while raising their three children, she also
worked alongside him in their Wiser Lake
Potato business. Pearl was an outgoing extrovert
with the gift of hospitality. Many holidays and
special occasions were held at their Everson
residence where she made everyone feel right at home.

Throughout her long life Pearl had many hobbies
that she enjoyed including: traveling, photography,
flower arrangements, ceramics, painting, camping,
poetry, genealogy and crocheting.

During retirement Pearl got involved
with activities at the Ferndale Senior Center.

In 2002, Pearl’s health was ailing and she began
kidney dialysis. Through her health issues she was
strong and kept an upbeat attitude.

Pearl was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother,
and great-grandmother, and she will be greatly missed.
She was proud of every member of her family and enjoyed
every opportunity she had to spend time with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents;
her brothers Carl Jr. and Roy; and her
husband of 67 years. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Lawrence;
sons, Michael (Terry) Hickey and Earl “Pat” Hickey;
twelve grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren;
and other family members.
