Obituary
Paul M. Beich, Jr., age 76, of Bellingham, WA passed away Sunday, September 25th at his home with his four children loving him at his side.
Paul was born in Bloomington, Illinois, oldest of 5 children, and graduated from Bloomington High School. He served in the US Army and after his honorable discharge in 1963, he attended the University of Denver graduating with a degree in Business Administration in 1969.
He is survived by his step-mother, Ruth Beich of Florida, brother Herbert Beich (Susan) of Michigan, sisters Karen Beich of Iowa, and Marylee Gendron (Hank) of Florida, his four children, Kammy Young (George) of Tennessee, Paul Beich, III of North Carolina, Alexis Beich (Robert Schweigert) of Washington, and Claire Beich of Washington. His Grandchildren George Young IV, Lucy Brabham (Rob), Colyn Beich, as well as many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
Paul is pre-deceased by his mother Kathryn Beich (McNulta), father Paul M. Beich, and his brother, Otto “Tony” Beich.
Paul was an entrepreneur and in 1976 founded Paul M. Beich, Mineral Properties and Development, and in the early 1980’s founded Paragon Petroleum Corporation in Denver, CO.
Paul moved his family from Denver, CO to Woodinville, WA and founded Magnetic Marbles, Inc., importing toys that were used in schools to help children learn to count as well as having something fun to play with. The Smithsonian Institute also sent the Magnetic Marbles into space to see how the magnetic marbles would react in space.
In 1989 Paul moved with his family to Bellingham, WA. Paul was a very active member of the Bellingham Yacht Club and the Junior Sailing Program.
One of Paul’s greatest loves and accomplishments was the family’s 48’ wooden cabin cruiser built by his brother-in-law, Philip Barron of East Sooke, British Columbia. The family boated all year long around the San Juan Islands and in British Columbia.
Paul had an incredible love for life and the most positive attitude regardless of the situation. Although Paul spent a lot of his years in the Pacific Northwest, he had a very special place in his heart for the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. As a child he spent many summers at Grand Island on Lake Superior and has many friends and family there that he loved very much!
A special thank you to all of the medical professionals that were involved in Paul’s care. He appreciated each one of you.
A celebration of Paul’s life was held on September 30th at the Bellingham Yacht Club.

I am so sorry Lexy, Claire, and Lynne, I had no idea. I was actually looking for Paul and you all up on Google, to tell you of Mark’s passing . Paul was a good man, and I love you all dearly, and think of you all often. Please call me anytime 405-445-9752. Mark passed Dec. 7, and wanted you all to know.

To the whole family some I know and some I do not . Alexis and Claire are to young to remember me in Denver. Herb and Marlee I hope remember me all the way back to Bloomington. Paul and Herb employed me for a couple of years upon arriving in Denver. I followed Paul into the oil and gas business and we exchanged favors and business. Paul was a good friend and the world will be a bit less without him.Rick Keller
