Obituary

Patricia Marie Nevitt, age 90, passed away on Monday August 13, 2012. She was born July 9, 1922 in Los Angeles to Patrick and Ethel (Williams) Burns.

Patricia was the oldest daughter of six children of an Irish immigrant. She was a 1945 graduate of UCLA with a degree in English.

At that time, it was a great achievement for the daughter of an Irish immigrant.

Patricia met her future husband, William Nevitt, in the Mojave Desert in 1946. He proposed three days later and they married July 13, 1946 in Westwood, CA. They moved to Salinas, CA in 1965 where they raised their family.

Patricia pursued a teaching career and continued a love of storytelling and childrens literature throughout her life. She was a life-long learner and attended college lectures until age 88. She also enjoyed collecting first editions of childrens literature.

She is survived by her husband William Nevitt of Bellingham. Their happy marriage of 66 years stands as a testament to true love. William describes Patricia as a woman with a heart of gold.

Other survivors include daughter Danita Koehler of Alaska; 2 sons Lawrence Nevitt of Blaine and Richard Nevitt of Anchorage; 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

A service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at a later date.

To the loving husband and all the dear Family and Friends of Patricia please accept my sympathy in your painful loss. May you find comfort and hope in the Bible Verses that follow. Rev.21:4-5 “AND HE WILL WIPE OUT EVERY TEAR FROM THEIR EYES AND DEATH WILL BE NO MORE FOR THE FORMER THINGS HAVE PASSED AWAY.”
