Obituary
Oddie C. Bowen, 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday December 19, 2019. Born August 30, 1938 to Floyd and Nellie Bowen of Sumas. Oddie was the youngest of 8 children. Oddie attended Sumas Elementary and later Nooksack Valley High School. After attending NVHS Oddie worked locally for a few years bailing hay and at the shake mill.
In 1955 Oddie joined the Army and served until his honorable discharge in 1958.
Oddie married his sweetheart Pat Wickwire in 1959. They welcomed daughter Victoria in 1960 and son Michael in 1963.
He was a hardworking man occupying several positions throughout his working career. He worked for American Fabricators, like many in the area at the time, but really was known for driving gravel truck for Lind Gravel which later became Pacific Concrete. After 35 years on the road Oddie retired in 2003.
Oddie was a loyal member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #31 and had been a member 31 years.
Above all spending time with his family was his favorite pastime; whether it be fishing, camping, playing softball and later on bowling, or, his favorite, burning a burger on a warm summer day with his grandkids or great grandkids running around the yard.
Oddie is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Pat (Wickwire) Bowen, his daughter Vickie (Lloyd) Anderson, son Mike (Tammie) Bowen; beloved grandchildren Derick (Jen) Anderson, Erica (Derek) Peterson, Cody (Alisa) Bowen, and Jake (Amanda) Bowen; cherished great grandchildren Paisley, Karlee, Lily, and Connor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Oddie in death are his parents Floyd and Nellie, 3 brothers, and 4 sisters.
Oddie will be most well known for his laugh, his strong handshake, and that he lived for his family. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
A graveside service will be held on Friday December 27th at 11 am at Woodlawn Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday December 28th at 1 pm at the Deming Log Show. Please join us.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Oddie’s name to Whatcom Hospice in appreciation for his wonderful care in his final days.

Dear Aunt Pat, Mike, Vickie, and family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all as you gather to share memories of Uncle Oddie. We know there will be a big hole in your family without him here and pray that you each will be comforted in your grief by the legacy carried on by the next generations that Oddie loved so much! We hope that you each find peace and we all have a big family reunion in heaven some day!
Love and blessings,
Rick and Becca
