Obituary

Norris (Norey) Adams, 92, passed away April 2 in Bellevue. He attended Bellingham schools and Western Washington College of Education (now WWU).
He was well known in Whatcom County for his play-by-play broadcasts of area high school and semi-pro sports teams for local radio stations. He could also re-create for radio listeners the action of an “away” baseball game by using just the statistics arriving by tele-type, adding crowd and bat-crack sound effects.
He served as editor of the former Darigold Digest magazine and as advertising manager of the Bellingham Herald. He became president of Pacific Northwest Newspaper Advertising Executives.
He joined the University of Washington School of Communications as Business Manager of the associated student publications The Daily and The Tyee. He also was on faculty as lecturer for an advertising class.
At the Goodwill Games he was chosen to escort many sports celebrities -and First Lady Barbara Bush-to their viewing areas.
Norris was a member of Masonic Lodge #44, and the Bellingham Golf and Country Club. He enjoyed all sports especially golf – he made a hole-in-one – and boating in the San Juans with family and friends. World travel and cruises were highlights of his retirement years, second only to time spent with his grandchildren.
Norris is survived by Marilyn Turner Adams, his wife of 65 years, Craig Adams and his wife Sandy and children Logan and Kiley of Puyallup; Kyle Adams of Dallas TX; Marilyn (Lyn) Adams and husband Greg Roe and daughter Cannon of Clyde Hill.

To the loving Wife,Sons,Daughters,Family & Friends may I offer my sympathy in the painful loss of your dearly loved Norris. He lived such a full life and will be sorely missed by all those who knew, respected and loved him. Hopefully you will be comforted by these Verses from the Bible: Psalms36:7 “HOW PRECIOUS YOUR LOVING-KINDNESS IS O GOD! AND IN THE SHADOW OF YOUR WINGS THE SONS OF MEN THEMSELVES TAKE REFUGE,FOR WITH YOU IS THE SOURCE OF LIFE”

  3. So many wonderful memories of good times with the Adams. Norey always made everyone feel special and we feel blessed to have had him in our lives. Sending our deepest sympathies. Love, Barbara and John
